Pueblo Nuevo

Pueblo Nuevo is an indigenous community located in Panama. Historically, the only lending options to the community were up to 200% annual interest and perpetuating the poverty cycle. Today, the town has a high performing community-owned bank led by local women with 34 members and a loan portfolio of $22,500. 

 
The bank has disbursed more than 317 loans totaling $57k since inception in 2014, with a 0% default rate. It is the only community- owned financial institution in the town and the main source of financial services.

Maach Pobor

Maach Pobor is an indigenous community located in Panama. Historically, the only lending options to the community were up to 200% annual interest and perpetuating the poverty cycle. Today, the town has a high performing community-owned bank led by local women with 54 members and a loan portfolio of $20,100. 

 
The bank has disbursed more than 69 loans since inception in 2019, with a 0% default rate. It is the only community-owned financial institution in the town and the main source of financial services.
